How do we incorporate NET and DTT?

-
NET and DTT can be incorporated into a child’s individualized programming by teaching skills in the natural environment, while teaching other complex skills in a structured DTT manner. We evaluate the best ways a child can learn each skill, by varying the approach. It is important that all goals transfer from the structured environment to the natural environment, where they would encounter more opportunities to engage in the behavior. Incorporating both of these approaches will maximize the child’s overall learning and experience.

Home-based services include:

-
Initial and ongoing assessments to identify goals that are individualized, and functional for the child (e.g., FBA, VB-MAPP, ESDM)
-
Skill acquisition program development and implementation
-
Behavior plan development and implementation
-
Analyzing data collection to monitor and track progress
-
Hands on parent/staff training on behavioral techniques

Advantages of home therapy:

-
The child can be in the comfort of their own space.
-
Therapy can take place in the natural home environment, where needs and
concerns of the family can be easily identified and targeted.
-
Teaching skills in the natural environment using a naturalistic approach will
increase your child's likelihood to repeat those actions outside the home.
-
Promotes family and sibling involvement where therapy time can be used to
educate siblings and caregivers, work on social skills, and build a positive sibling relationship.
